{"id":352,"date":"2022-08-14T11:05:27","date_gmt":"2022-08-14T18:05:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/packdude.org\/blog\/?p=352"},"modified":"2022-08-14T11:05:27","modified_gmt":"2022-08-14T18:05:27","slug":"rucking-your-way-to-better-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/packdude.org\/blog\/2022\/08\/14\/rucking-your-way-to-better-health\/","title":{"rendered":"Rucking Your Way to Better Health"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You should really try rucking.\u00a0 What is rucking?\u00a0 Why hauling a weighted rucksack around on your back for fun and exercise, of course!\u00a0 I highly recommend starting out with a <a href=\"http:\/\/goruck.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GoRuck<\/a> Rucker, and a 30 pound ruck plate.\u00a0 At first, your shoulders will probably kill you.\u00a0 But after a few weeks of rucking, you won&#8217;t even notice it is there.\u00a0 And then you can start adding more weight!<\/p>\n<p>At one point I was rucking almost daily with 70 pounds &#8211; a 50 pound plate and a 20 pound plate.\u00a0 I even did 100 pounds once or twice.\u00a0 However, at those weights, my thoracic vertebrae started to grumble and the pressure from the shoulder straps would cut off some circulation in my axillary veins and\/or arteries.\u00a0 I decided to try 40 pounds as my &#8220;normal&#8221; ruck load: a 30 pound ruck plate plus 6 liters of water in a DromLite bladder.\u00a0 I will add in a &#8220;heavy&#8221; day every week.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that rucking is the <em>perfect<\/em> blend of resistance and cardio.
